Wavepad, an alternative to Audacity
« on: March 11, 2014, 01:17:06 PM »
Audacity is a great program and it's FREE!  This makes it really nice.

However, if you're looking for a more professional program to edit audio files, you need Wavepad.

Wavepad can do a lot of things Audacity can't.  You can open audio files of any type and save them as any type.  For instance, let's say you have an MP4 from a Mac and you want to convert it to .wav so you can use it with a Windows program.  Wavepad can do that.  It also has all the editing features as Audacity, including amplification, speed alteration, noise cancellation, crimping, and a lot more.  One really cool feature is a text-to-voice module that lets you type any amount of text and it will say it!  Then you can save that file as any file format you want.

This software isn't free, but it does have a trial period.  Check it out if you like modifying sound files.
