sociocultural appropriateness- writing polite emails
« on: February 13, 2018, 02:43:59 PM »
ESL students can have little idea how to write polite, appropriate, coherent emails to their teachers, especially at the lowest levels. Appropriateness in this context includes conventions (greeting, sign-off) but also sociocultural norms like being short and to-the-point, which is preferred in this specific genre of writing. The attachment includes information for students about conventions as well as writing prompts for practice.
