Song Compare and Contrast
« on: May 12, 2017, 11:13:29 AM »
Listening to music is a good way to give students listening practice. An activity to activate both reading and writing could be a compare and contrast song project. Have students listen to two songs, and write what their impressions of the songs are. They can compare the melody, lyrics, and voice of the singer. Then go back, and look at all of the differences they can spot. You could make this an in-class writing activity, or expand it into a longer paragraph or paper assignment. In this way, they are using both listening and writing at the same time.
