Funny VAGUE gameshow video
« on: March 29, 2012, 03:15:39 PM »
For advanced writing students.

When I was frustrated with the vague language my students were using in their papers, I found this Mad TV video on YouTube. It's a fun way to help them realize that their nouns should be specific, their pronouns should have referents, etc. I showed it twice and explained some stuff a few expressions because they talk pretty quickly.

I gave some examples of language from their papers and explained that there is nothing wrong with these expressions grammatically, they just don't give the reader a clear idea of what we are talking about.

I think I could be the big winner for this sort of kind of show!

I am using this for my class! Super funny. Students love videos. It's a good way to break up the monotony of the same lesson structure every day.
