C-Test
« on: February 22, 2016, 09:46:54 AM »
Take a look here: http://effortlessacquisition.blogspot.com/2004/10/what-c-test-is.html for a definition of what the c-test is.
Basically it is a paragraph of text. The first two and last two sentences are kept intact. The sentences in between have words that are missing the second half of them (i.e. elabo _ _ _ _ = elaborate). The students' task is to then fill in the missing letters. This is good to use at the end of a unit where you learned vocabulary words. You verify that the students really learned the words, and you can throw in words from previous vocabulary units as well. Not only that, but you can test if the students are using proper grammar for example by changing tenses to fit the blanks properly. You can have students work in pairs and see which pair finishes first.
