Peer Review for a Statement of Purpose
« on: February 05, 2017, 05:06:09 PM »

Many of the pieces of writing that students compose are for specific and sometimes even daunting purposes. One specific letter that I have been asked countless times to review is a statement of purpose. For ESL students who want to apply for university or for a specific training program, a SOP isnít an easy beast to tame. The task that I drafted is for students to practice their SOP in an environment that isnít high stakes, so they will have an idea of how to prepare best for one in the future.
I am sharing this idea in the Peer Feedback forum because I specifically designed this task to be supported by peer feedback more than teacher given feedback. The link includes a potential prompt, assessment criteria, and a scope and sequence.
