Jigsaw Activities

A jigsaw activity allows one large activity be broken down into smaller roles that each student can learn about and teach to others. In the case of vocabulary, the class would be broken into multiple groups. These groups would learn certain vocabulary words and then the members of those groups would split up into new groups, so that each person in this new groups studied different vocabulary words. It is then there job to teach what they have learned to their classmates. They need each other to finish the jigsaw, therefore they are giving data and receiving data from others in order to complete a larger goal. This should also the students to take on more responsibility and allow for more independence regarding the information they are teaching and learning. Attached is detailed activity and instructions on how to recreate a jigsaw activity for vocabulary.
