Cause and Effect warm-up activity
« on: February 09, 2010, 08:45:28 PM »
Before teaching cause and effect in academic writing, I showed a short movie clip (Ice Age) and asked students to find several causes and effects that they found in the clip. Note that an effect can be the cause of another effect ( more like a chain reaction).

I handed students a cause and effect graphic organizer chart and asked them as a class (or group them in pairs) to write down what they thought was the cause and effect from the movie clip. A brief discussion followed.

Here is the link I used and I've also attached the cause and effect graphic organizer chart.

Hi luvjanny:)
I was looking for warm up activity for cause and effect for my lesson plan. Since my topic is solar system, I needed to make my students understand why four seasons come to happen. So, showing that cute squirrel and iceberg will be a very good warm up. Also, I liked the activity sheet, too. Thank you!
