Peer Editing Sheets for Definition and Opinion Paragraph
« on: April 01, 2012, 04:05:42 PM »
I am attaching two different peer editing sheets that I created for my advanced intermediate reading and writing class at the Intensive English Institute in Urbana, Illinois.  The first one is for a definition paragraph and the second one is for an opinion paragraph.  These assume that the students will be doing their peer review on Microsoft Word, although the sheets can definitely be adapted so that the students can fill them in by hand.  Both of these editing sheets are for paragraphs, but once again, they can be adapted to include essays.
Something to note on the definition peer editing sheet which I added after having received some feedback from the writing component leader at the Intensive English Institute, Lu Ann Sorenson.  I ask the students to use the internet to look up their classmate's dictionary definition if a dictionary definition is used.  I then ask the students to make sure that their classmate does not have a faulty argument by having chosen just one of the dictionary definitions which is convenient for their paragraph.
I hope these can be of use to you!

Ally! I love your peer review materials. They are so organized that they can provide a great guide while students are peer reviewing because a lot of students have no idea what they should do during peer review. Reflecting on my experience, we just focused on checking grammar errors rather than the content. =)  ;)
