Warm-up Discussion
1. Show the picture of the distribution of space junk and ask students what the dots are.

2. Divide students in groups and ask students to discuss the following questions:
a) Why is space junk a problem? Why are people concerned about it?
b) How many pieces of space junk are there? Make a good guess!
Vocabulary Pre-teaching
Students will be given a list of cleaning tools/techniques mentioned in the article and an array of the pictures of the tools/techniques. In groups, students will work together to match the right tool/technique with the right picture. The tools/techniques include nets, harpoons, tentacles, slingshots, solar sails, lasers, electrical currents and air bursts.
