This presentation was created by Jieyu Di and John Kotnarowski for EIL 445, Spring 2014. The basic idea of the activities included in the ppt (sample articles and organizer handouts are included) is to raise awareness about different types of text types (compare/contrast, problem/solution, cause/effect) and give students opportunities to practice (organizing) the different elements of each text type. It involves reading and writing and would be a great introductory activity for a class/unit on any of the aforementioned text types.
