Podcast/Vodcast Book Reviews of HP

This idea can be adapted for any book, but the examples that I am providing are for HP and the Sorcerer's Stone.

1. After Ss have finished reading the book, have them discuss what they liked/disliked about the plot, characters, writing style, etc.

2. Have students read several book reviews about HP and identify common traits.

Here are two links that describe some of the components of and tips for writing book reviews:
Here are several examples of written HP Book 1 reviews:
2. Have Ss compare and contrast the 2 example video reviews linked below, then use the discussion to have the whole class develop a rubric/set of requirements for how to evaluate the book reviews that they themselves create.
3. Have students record their own audio/video review of HP Book 1 based on the rubric/requirements developed in Step 2 (add outlining, peer/teacher feedback as needed for preparation)

Now that students know how to write/cast a book review, you can have them do this with other books they read throughout the remainder of the course/semester.
