Then I learned something...
« on: January 26, 2007, 01:41:34 PM »
One of my Spanish teachers used to select a small portion from our writing samples--say 5 out of 30 lines--for grammatical correction. In this section, he would point out and correct errors. Then, he gave us one aspect on which we needed to focus. Throughout the rest of the sample, he only made comments on style, content, organization....

We were assigned to rewrite the corrected lines and to make the major prescriptive correction throughout the entire sample. I liked it because not only did I pay more attention to his comments (not to mention retain more about the major correction), but I also felt less overwhelmed with errors--as though they were somehow manageable.
