Reading Vocabulary Log
« on: April 30, 2021, 02:01:56 PM »
Have students keep a vocabulary log throughout the reading of a book/short story/etc. This can be used for any level. Explain the vocabulary log at the beginning of the reading. Tell students that any word that they do not know, look it up and put it down in their vocabulary log. For each word that they don't know, they should define the word, write down their own sentence using that word, and draw a picture relating to that word. They should also keep track of where the word occurred in that story, by either highlighting it, leaving a post-it note, or just writing down the page number in their vocabulary log. Students will turn in their vocabulary log, either at the end of the unit, or the end of each chapter.
