2 Assignments with fairy tales
« on: March 02, 2021, 09:29:37 AM »
On this website (https://www.eslprintables.com/Reading_worksheets/Tales_and_stories/Fairy_tales/) I have found many printables that can be interesting to use in class when working with fairy tales.
The first one, "Reinventing Fairy Tales" (https://www.eslprintables.com/reading_worksheets/tales_and_stories/fairy_tales/REINVENTING_FAIRY_TALES_cart_79677/) exploits the depiction of the wolf in Tex Avery cartoons. It is a series of very simple comprehension questions asked after watching three different clips. I would use it with older students (high school at least) and would definitely introduce some social commentary on the image of the wolf as a predator for women and the image of the wolf in Western culture.

The second one, "How to make a fairy-tale" (https://www.eslprintables.com/reading_worksheets/tales_and_stories/fairy_tales/How_to_make_a_fairy_tale_480732/) consists of guidelines to prompt students to write their own tales, following the common structure of fairy tales, as well as their most important ingredients (e.g., a moral lesson, an obstacle, a happy ending). With some adaptations, it can be used with many different age groups.
